Tamarama Residence, Sydney
Élan approached the fitout sensibility as a soothing antidote to the ocean’s blazing colours and dynamic energy forces at play beyond the residence’s windows in Tamarama.
The open design, pared back with clean lines, gives this this 2-bedroom apartment an enviable sense of roominess. Shiny and new surfaces were avoided in favour of soft velvety textures, stucco-finished walls and ceilings, and through the use of neutral materials with natural character and variance in grain (think Walnut, Smoked European Oak joinery and Bedonia marble) to imbue a sense of permanence.
Distinguishing design elements include intricate circular motifs carved into the kitchen joinery doors, and bedroom wardrobes that appear to float above the lustrous carpet to accommodate shoe drawers. Additional bespoke design features include integrated bedhead and bedside tables and a curved mirrored storage vanity unit in the hallway.
