Camperdown Residence, Sydney
Élan created a house celebrating the craftsmanship associated with mid-century modernism whilst utilising design features relevant to the 21st century.
The simplicity of materials including poured concrete, marble and glass together with white walls provide a framework for dramatic, over-scaled spaces that rely on exquisite joinery detailing rather than decoration for impact. Cupboards, cabinets, shelving and staircase panelling in rich Walnut veneer together with solid Walnut thread the light-filled rooms together with sound assurance.
All the joinery is fully customised including the free-standing bar with an emerald green marble surface and a concealed mini bar and wine cellar within solid Walnut frames within the lounge room. The focal point of this space is a TV unit with a hand-formed concrete insertion above the integrated fireplace.
