537 Apartments, Surry Hills, Sydney
Working in unison with the architect from the outset, Élan’s joinery expertise and design solutions ensured maximum advantage of space utilisation.
A 7-storey residential apartment building will be realised in partnership with Élan in the burgeoning lower west side of Surry Hills. It’s distinguishing characteristic is only two apartments will reside per floor to permit ample space and natural light flow akin to free-standing houses.
In effect, each apartment’s entire interior comprises joinery components. Walls are moveable to create personalised and highly flexible environments including sliding door panels in American Oak, and are also employed for the laundry, kitchen and main robe joinery together with a fully integrated desk and book storage unit.
Ingenious joinery modules conceal a fold-out guest bed, whilst the dedicated bike lobby features individual timber-clad secure storage areas – a stylish departure from the usual underground storage cages in cyclone mesh. In summary, 537 elevates function to a thing of beauty.
